Direct mail workshop
direct marketers tend to future and past at may meeting
By Bill Roberts
Members of the Mid-America Direct Marketing Association looked to the future and the past at their May 7 luncheon meeting.
As to the future, marketers awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Samantha Schmidt, who was selected for the honor from 23 applicants. A senior marketing student at Bellevue University, Schmidt is originally from Mason City, Iowa.
As for the past, marketers conducted a direct mail workshop by critiquing samples of pieces that had been recently mailed. The samples ranged from the most despicable to the "that's why I got into this business" magnificent, and were brought in by the members themselves.
Results and comments from the workshop are being assembled for publication on the Web site of the Mid-America DMA. Check it out -- see if you agree with the pros!
